UCF Seeks Personal Stories for United Way Campaign

UCF is reaching out to the community and asking for the stories of individuals who have been helped by the university’s Live United campaign and who are interested in sharing their story.

October is Live United Month at UCF, and in preparation for the campaign, faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to submit personal narratives that show the impact a United Way agency has had on their lives.

UCF’s Live United Campaign is an annual pledge drive to support the Heart of Florida United Way. The university comes together to advocate and volunteer for and donate to agencies that provide services to Central Florida.

The 2014 campaign raised more than $141,000. Contributions have aided in disaster relief, abuse prevention, early childhood care, helping veterans, assisting the homeless, and many other causes

“United Way and its member agencies have helped many within our UCF family,” said Rich Sloane, director of community and college relations for the College of Education and Human Performance. “Sharing these stories of help will bring home to our faculty, staff and students the importance of this campaign.”

The 2015 campaign will be overseen by Sloane. Stories can be submitted to him via email at Rich.Sloane@ucf.edu or by phone by calling 407-823-2465.
